Running With the Wolves – A Racialicious Reading of the Twilight Saga
[info]angryazngirl6 wrote in [info]twilight_sucks
A lot of the criticism of Twilight is focussed on its anti-feminist qualities, there hasn't been much talk about the racist elements, which are also pretty prominent (but not as visible). The last time the issue of race was brought up there were somecomments saying that race wasn't a big deal in the books so I decided to post an article that went a little more in depth on this issue.

Even if you disagree, at least take a look at it because it''s definitely worth reading.

Thunder Cat! Ho~o!
[info]everythingonit wrote in [info]kittypix
I rescued my kitty from an shelter/vet hospital towards the end of October. He didn't have a name for about a week until I realized he was going to grow up to be a buff grey cat!

XD So I named him Panthro.

So far, I do not have a Thunder Tank and he doesn't have any kitty nunchucks, but I'm working on the spiked collar part! <3

Here he is below. The best part about having a cat is... well, they're your own personal LOLcat 24 hrs a day. I realized early on, he looked just like Happy Cat, though I quickly found out that it is not every kitty's dream to have a CHEEZBURGER.

His is to have kibble. D; He doesn't like fish flavor.

I've Eaten All the Feathers off my Cat Dancer )

By the way, when do you think is a good time to give this kid a bath? I've had him for a month and a half already and he's not dirty or anything. He was born in a hopsital so he's used to being handled, so I think it'd be slightly drama free if I tried...

Just wanted to share this little gem with you...
[info]hmsbackstroker wrote in [info]twilight_sucks
So I have a series of videos on YouTube stating my reactions to the entire series. (HMSBackstroker, look me up, lol!) Anyway, so this girl posts on my Breaking Dawn video, which just RIPS Breaking Dawn APART.

"why do people post these things?
don't like it?, it's not like we need to know....
so please be quiate and post something normal.

by the way BREAKING DAWN is amazing "

She posted another one previously about how she thinks I'm weird or something, then posted this one. I have it so that all the comments have to be approved so the entire thing doesn't end up a wall of personal attacks, because that doesn't get anybody anywhere, but if someone has something positive to say about the books or wants to intelligently argue (haha, like that ever happens) I let it through. I've gotten A LOT of people who liked Twilight up until Breaking Dawn happened. So anyway, I was like, "Alright, I'll have some fun with this one," and let this comment through, and responded with:

"Why do people post videos and comments saying how much they love the series? We don't need to know how "amazing" it supposedly is.

And by the way, "quiate" is spelled "QUIET." "

I hate people. Hahaha!

And I'm feeling good...
[info]fikuz
This is a mix I made for [info]eowyn_rain as one of the tasks at music club at [info]hogwartsishome (yay, pimping time!) I hope she likes it because I've almost gone insane trying to find songs for the mix according to what little I know about her music taste (ten favorite artists and five favorite genres are not enough). I restricted my use of female vocalists, but, as you can see, failed miserably.

hih mix

Skullhead Boneyhands
[info]youngwilliam
It was quite charming when I went to Giacomo's this evening (not just because Ms. Kirsten "Michael Stipe's Vocal Coach" Jones was there, so I could deliver a big mix o' David Byrne to her), since on my way out, my favorite Ramones song came on (IE: The KKK Took My Baby Away). Oh, and Kat Johnson was there, who is now also wondering who the mystery "Jane" person was/is (I asked her about it via FaceBook the other week on a whim, but she'd no clue based on my LiveJournal descriptions from the other year).

When I was at the Sohns' later that night (after bringing Bree her forgotten brownie), I was looking at Tony's hippo skull and noticed an odd little bit about it. Tony has a slew of skulls, so I started checking around. Fortunately, through the magic of the World Wide Web, I can dredge up examples.

Ok, here's a series of skulls in order, based on the odd bit.

Monkey - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Rhesus/rhesus.htm (note that the eye socket is self-contained)
Horse - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Horse/horse.htm (clear bridge of bone between the eye-socket and the gap behind it)
Hyrax - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Hyrax/hyrax.htm (this little guy has a similar setup as the hippo, where it looks like the eye-socket broke, but it's really meant to be that way)
Ferret - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/PolecatFerret/polecatferret.htm (it's clearly not a break in these fellows)
Cat - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Cat/cat.htm (again, clearly not a break, but now it's reduced to little pointy bits)
Coyote - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Coyote/coyote.htm (almost vestigial pointy bits)
Bunny - http://www.skullsite.co.uk/Lagomorphs/lagomorphs.htm (I can't even tell if the big hole is 100% eye-socket or if we've lost the vestigial bits)

The little space behind (and sometimes connecting to, unless you're a primate) the eye socket is, if I recall correctly, where some muscles work up to work on jaw-grinding. Alas, I'm having none of the luck in finding what the name of that space is. Here's a hyena - http://www.sxc.hu/pic/m/h/he/helix120/835152_hyena_skull_1.jpg - which have a similar setup to canines, except they've that mohawk looking thing for the powerful jaw-muscles to attach to. Alas, I'm not concerned about the muscles nor their connections, but why some critters have a bridge of bone between the eye-socket and the "muscle socket", some don't, and some have a vestigial bridge.

If anyone out there in TV land knows what the term is for that bone 'bridge' (that primates have, hyraxes and hippos almost have, and common carnivores just have vestigial forms of), and/or what the hole is that the 'bridge' often divides from the eye socket, it'd be ever-so-handy.

Are You Serious?
[info]jonzeartist wrote in [info]twilight_sucks
So someone wrote on my Deviantart piece:

http://Zeartist.deviantart.com/art/Edward-Cullen-s-Expressions-104772913

This person wrote:

"EDWARD HAS LOTS OF VERY CHAQRACTER DEPTS AND EMUITN AND U JUST ONT UNDERSTAND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALSO WHY NO ESMES"

I made sure to get the exact number of exclamation points: 13.

I had to write back to this person and ask "Are you serious?" lol He/she, whoever it was seems a little too freaking stupid. But then again in this day and age you never know do you? Odds are I pissed off some Twitard something fierce. My advice to this person: stay in school!!!
